Don't worry about avoiding All you can eat places. I doubt your gf will notice if you pig out too much. And if she asks just say something along the lines of "Ah, lighten up. We're on holiday!"

Other than that I'd advise you to keep a journal on what you eat, that way you know exactly how much. And if you can manage it keep a journal on how much exercise you take. One last parting word of advice; Carbs. Eat lots of them, breads, pastries, sweets, chocolate. Eat whatever of them you can get your hands on. Not only are carbs the easiest for your body to process but eating a lot of carbohydrates will cause your body to crave even more carbs.
